ampus Watch: Below is a summary of campus activity reported to or observed by The University Police Department Patrol Officers between Friday, 09/02/16 and Tuesday 09/06/16. (Game Day + Holiday Weekend = extra-long Campus Watch) UT ADMINISTRATION BUILDING, 1616 Guadalupe Street Theft: A UT staff member reported the theft of a bicycle that was secured with a cable lock. Estimated loss value: $130. Discovered on 09/02/16 at 6:00 p.m. TRINITY GARAGE, 1815 Trinity Street Public Intoxication: A patrolling UTPD officer found a non-UT subject losing a fight with gravity near the stadium. After talking with the subject, the officers believed that he might need medical help. Sometime after the subject left with EMS, our officers received a report of a person using the garage as a bathroom. Our officers found the same subject who now claimed that he had to get to the stadium to operate the television cameras. Our officers placed him under arrest for Public Intoxication at that time. Discovered on 09/02/16 at 5:49 p.m. ROBERT LEE MOORE HALL, 2515 Speedway Avenue Theft: A UT student reported that their bicycle, which had been secured to the nearby bicycle rack with a cable lock, was stolen. The lock was not found. Estimated loss value: $520. Discovered on 09/02/16 at 6:00 p.m. GOLDSMITH HALL, 310 Inner Campus Drive Criminal Trespass: UTPD Dispatch received a call from the emergency callbox at this location. The non-UT subject on the other end yelled that he was not allowed to be on UT property and should be arrested. Our officers responded and located a man who was indeed trespassed from all UT property. UTPD officers fulfilled his wish with a ride to the county jail. Disclaimer: UTPD Officers do not grant wishes. Any stories equating emergency callboxes to magical lamps should be disregarded. Occurred on 09/03/16 at 2:20 a.m. ALMETRIUS DUREN HALL, 2624 Whitis Avenue Public Intoxication/Consumption of Alcohol by a Minor: A student called UTPD Dispatch about a non-UT subject who was passed out near the entrance to the dormitory. Our officers responded and located a man matching that description. They determined the man was in need of medical attention due to his level of intoxication. Occurred on 09/03/16 at 2:53 a.m. 2200 BLOCK OF NUECES ST Public Intoxication: A UTPD officer near this location noticed a non-UT subject who appeared to be hanging on to a utility pole, which appeared to be the only thing keeping him from plunging to the ground. When the man let go of his sole ally in his war against gravity, he promptly stumbled and fell. Our officers determined that the man was a danger to himself due to his level of intoxication. Occurred 09/03/16 at 10:20 p.m. ALMETRIUS DUREN HALL, 2624 Whitis Avenue Consumption of Alcohol by a Minor (x3): A UT student reported that there were two intoxicated students laying on tables at this location. UTPD officers responded and found that all three students had consumed alcohol while under the legal age. No charges were filed under the Medical Amnesty Act. Occurred on 09/04/16 at 1:38 a.m. JESTER WEST DORMITORY, 201 E 21st Street Public Intoxication/Consumption of Alcohol by a Minor: UTPD Dispatch received a call about a non-UT subject lying face down on the floor of the lobby. Our officers located the man and found that he had decided to use the lobby floor as a place to both sleep and answer the call of nature. Officers summoned emergency medical personnel to transport the man to a local hospital for alcohol poisoning. Occurred on 09/04/16 at 2:46 a.m. NORTH END ZONE, 405 East 23rd Street Public Intoxication/Consumption of Alcohol by a Minor/Possession of More than One Valid Driver's License: A Travis County Deputy noticed a UT student who was leaning against a nearby wall, abruptly fall down. Our officers responded to assist and asked the man some simple questions to determine how intoxicated he was. When asked the date he responded, “The 30th of the 8th.” When the officers seated him in a nearby chair, the man almost fell out of the chair backwards. In an attempt to identify the man, he incorrectly guessed his own age, and presented his wallet which also had a Texas driver's license that belonged to someone else. Our officers were able to locate a sober, responsible adult to assume custody of the man until he sobered up. Occurred on 09/04/16 at 6:27 p.m. STUDENT ACTIVITY CENTER, 2201 Speedway Avenue Public Intoxication/Possession of a Fictitious Driver's License: UTPD officers received a report of an intoxicated UT student inside a bathroom at this location. Our officers located the woman and had her sit in a nearby chair. When asked for identification she told officers, “No, because I don't want to give you anything fake.” In police work, this is commonly referred to as a “clue”. Officers seized her fake identification and were able to locate a sober adult who agreed to assume care, custody, and control of the student until she sobered up. Occurred on 09/04/16 at 7:30 p.m. DARRELL K. ROYAL-TEXAS MEMORIAL STADIUM , 405 East 23rd Street Public Intoxication: A UT staff member reported that there was a woman passed out on the floor of the women's restroom at this location. Officers responded and found a UT student sound asleep on the restroom floor. When officers were able to wake her she stated that she was fine and just needed a nap. Officers were able to locate a responsible adult who agreed to assume care, custody, and control of the woman until she sobered up. Occurred on 09/04/16 at 6:31 p.m. DARRELL K. ROYAL-TEXAS MEMORIAL STADIUM , 405 East 23rd Street Public Intoxication: At a local sporting event, UTPD officers noticed a person stumbling and falling down. Officers determined that the cause was overconsumption of alcoholic beverages and transported the non-UT subject to the county jail. 09/04/16 at 9:05 p.m. DARRELL K. ROYAL-TEXAS MEMORIAL STADIUM , 405 East 23rd Street Possession of a Fictitious Driver's License: During a local sporting event a non-UT vendor approached UTPD officers and asked for assistance in determining if an ID that she received was real or not. Officers were quickly able to determine that the ID was not real and had a conversation with the owner of the ID about its origin. The moral of the story is don't use a fake ID while standing next to police officers. Occurred on 09/04/16 at 9:11 p.m. TRINITY GARAGE, 400 East Martin Luther King Jr Boulevard Public Intoxication/Disorderly Conduct (x2): UTPD officers were dispatched to a report of a fight in progress at this location. Officers located two subjects who nearby witnesses stated were fighting before police arrived. The wet stains on the front of both the non-UT subjects' pants indicated to officers that alcohol may have also been involved. Officers placed both subjects under arrest. Occurred on 09/04/16 at 10:08 p.m. DARRELL K. ROYAL-TEXAS MEMORIAL STADIUM , 405 East 23rd Street Theft: A non-UT vendor called police and stated that his phone was stolen and that he could see the non-UT subject that took it. Our officers responded and located the stolen phone in the would-be thief's pants. The man was arrested and the phone recovered. Occurred on 09/05/16 at 12:46 a.m. ASHBEL-SMITH HALL, 201 West 7th Street Driving While Intoxicated: A UTPD guard reported that a driver was attempting to drive the wrong way on a nearby one way street and that the vehicle had stopped. Our officers responded and found that the non-UT driver was too intoxicated to safely operate his motor vehicle. Occurred on 09/05/16 at 1:49 a.m. The University of Texas Police Department responded to 87 Alarm Reports, 11 Traffic Violations, 78 Suspicious Activity Reports, 43 Medical Emergencies, 8 “Police Help” Emergency Callbox Activations, 13 Foot Patrols, 3 Welfare Concerns, 3 Found Property Reports, 5 Assist Other Law Enforcement Agency Requests, 1 Motor Vehicle Collision, and 10 Public Assists between 09/02/16 and 09/06/16.
