Campus Watch: Below is a summary of campus activity reported to or observed by The University Police Department Patrol Officers between Tuesday, 09/06/16 and Wednesday, 09/07/16. MAIN BUILDING, 110 Inner Campus Drive Criminal Trespass Warning: A UTPD officer noticed a non-UT subject sleeping on a bench inside this location. After determining that the man had no official business on campus, he issued him a written criminal trespass warning. Occurred on 09/06/16 at 7:30 a.m. PERRY-CASTANEDA LIBRARY, 101 East 21st Street Theft: A UT student reported that his bicycle was stolen from the racks at this location. The bicycle had only its front tire secured with a U-lock. The tire and lock were recovered. Estimated loss value: $600. Occurred on 09/04/16 between 7:00 p.m. and 9:30 p.m. UNIVERSITY TEACHING CENTER, 105 West 21st Street Theft: A UT student reported that his cellphone was taken from this location after he left it unattended. Estimated loss value: $20. Occurred on 09/06/16 at 1:17 p.m. JESTER WEST DORMITORY, 201 East 21st Street Theft: A UT student reported that his bicycle was stolen from the courtyard at this location. The bicycle was unsecured at the time. Estimated loss value: $300. Occurred on 09/06/16 at 4:36 p.m. 2300 BLOCK OF GUADALUPE ST Possession of Marijuana: A UTPD officer noticed a non-UT subject sitting at this location yelling at pedestrians. When our officers approached him, he moved a package of cigarettes out of view. While he was doing so, a hand rolled cigarette containing what the officer knew to be marijuana fell out. The officer placed the man under arrest. Occurred on 09/06/16 at 10:15 p.m. 200 BLOCK OF W MLK BLVD Driving While Intoxicated: A patrolling UTPD officer noticed a vehicle on the roadway without its headlights on. The officer stopped the vehicle and found that the driver smelled strongly of alcohol. The driver handed the officer his registration instead of insurance, then a debit card instead of his license. After getting the correct documents, the officer was able to determine that the driver was too intoxicated to safely operate a motor vehicle. Occurred 09/07/16 at 2:53 a.m. The University of Texas Police Department responded to 25 Alarm Reports, 7 Traffic Violations, 4 Suspicious Activity Reports, 1 Medical Emergency, 1 “Police Help” Emergency Callbox Activation, 6 Foot Patrols, 1 Welfare Concern, 2 Found Property Reports, 1 Assist Other Law Enforcement Agency Request, and 3 Public Assists between 09/06/16 and 09/07/16.
