Campus Watch: Below is a summary of campus activity reported to or observed by The University Police Department Patrol Officers between Thursday, 09/15/16 and Friday, 09/16/16. LIVING LEARNING CENTER, 2610 Whitis Avenue Theft: A UT student called to report that her bicycle was stolen from this location. The bicycle was secured with a cable lock. Estimated loss value: $220.Reported on 09/15/16 at 12:30 p.m. AT&T CONFERENCE CENTER, 1900 University Avenue Assault by Contact: A UT staff member reported that two contractors at this location had an argument and that one of them pushed the other. No one was injured by the contact and the people involved left afterward. Occurred on 09/15/16 at 3:20 p.m. WELCH HALL, 105 East 24th Street Theft: A UT student reported that his bicycle was stolen from the racks outside this location. The bicycle's front tire was secured by a cable lock to the bicycle rack. The tire and the lock were recovered. Estimated loss value: $200. Reported on 09/15/16 at 3:32 p.m. PERRY-CASTANEDA LIBRARY, 101 East 21st Street Graffiti: UT staff reported discovering graffiti in a men's restroom at this location. Estimated cost of removal: $50. Reported on 09/15/16 at 9:49 p.m. ALMETRIUS DUREN HALL, 2624 Whitis Avenue Theft: A UT student reported his bicycle was stolen from the rack outside this location. The bicycle was secured with a cable lock. Estimated loss value: $100. Reported on 09/15/16 at 6:17 p.m. LOT 70, 2000 Robert Dedman Drive Aggravated Robbery / Resisting Arrest / Escape: UTPD Dispatch received several calls about an assault at this location. Our officers discovered that a non-UT subject approached a UT student and grabbed her arm. She yelled for help and a nearby UT staff member approached them in a UT vehicle. The staff member was able to distract the aggressor from the student. The man then assaulted the staff member in order to take the UT vehicle. Our officers arrived when the aggressive subject was getting into the UT vehicle. UTPD officers gave him several commands to exit the vehicle, but he put the vehicle into gear instead. Our officers deployed a taser at that point and were able to get the car back into park. The aggressor then attempted to assault the officers who were trying to get him into handcuffs. The UT student was not injured. The intervening UT staff member and several UTPD officers were treated for minor injuries. Occurred on 09/15/16 at 8:09 p.m. 300 BLOCK OF E DEAN KEETON ST Criminal Trespass: A patrolling UTPD officer noticed a non-UT subject leaning over a wall on UT property at this location. The officer checked to make sure that the man did not need medical attention and discovered that the subject had an active criminal trespass warning for all UT property. Occurred on 09/16/16 at 2:54 a.m. JESTER WEST DORIMITORY, 201 East 21st Street Public Intoxication: A UT staff member reported that there was an intoxicated person in the lobby of this location. Our officers responded and located the UT student who had evidently ingested too much ethanol that evening. The man responded to officers' questions with extremely rude language and the officers determined that due to his level of intoxication, the man was a danger to himself and others. Occurred on 09/16/16 at 3:04 a.m. FRANK ERWIN CENTER, 1701 Red River Street Public Intoxication: A patrolling UTPD officer heard someone yelling near this location. When he went to investigate he found a non-UT subject who told the officer she was not yelling. Our officer was able to find a sober adult to assume care, custody, and control of the subject until she sobered up. Occurred on 09/16/16 at 2:46 a.m. The University of Texas Police Department responded to 19 Alarm Reports, 4 Traffic Violations, 13 Suspicious Activity Reports, 1 Welfare Concern, 3 Police “Emergency Help” Callbox Activations, 2 Medical Emergencies, 1 Assist Other Law Enforcement Agency Requests, 8 Foot Patrols, and 2 Public Assists between 09/15/16 and 09/16/16.
