Campus Watch: Below is a summary of campus activity reported to or observed by The University Police Department Patrol Officers between Friday, 09/16/16 and Tuesday, 09/20/16. BATTS HALL, 2100 San Jacinto Street Criminal Mischief: A UT staff member reported scratches to her vehicle that appear to be intentional. Reported on 09/16/16 at 7:30 a.m. LOT 37, 2200 Red River Street Duty Upon Striking an Unattended Vehicle: A UT student reported finding her vehicle damaged after parking it in this location. The damage is consistent with a collision and the other driver failed to leave the required information. Occurred on 09/16/16 between 7:50 a.m. and 3:00 p.m. WELCH HALL, 105 East 24th Street Theft: A UT student reported that her wallet was stolen while left unattended. Estimated loss value: $150. Occurred on 09/16/16 at 11:00 a.m. BLANTON DORMITORY Public Intoxication: A UT student contacted the emergency services to get medical help for a friend who had been drinking. UTPD officer responded along with EMS and located the subject who needed help. The officers were able to locate a responsible party who agreed to assume care, custody, and control of the subject until he sobered up. No charges were filed under the Texas Medical Amnesty Act. Reported on 09/17/16 at 2:17 a.m. 2800 BLOCK OF NUECES STREET Driving While Intoxicated: A patrolling UTPD officer noticed a vehicle traveling the wrong way on the one-way street at this location. Our officers stopped the car and found that the non-UT driver had a strong smell of alcohol coming from his breath. The driver consented to taking Standardized Field Sobriety Tests. Officers determined that the driver was too intoxicated to safely operate a motor vehicle. Occurred on 09/17/16 at 3:01 a.m. 2100 BLOCK OF WHITIS AVE Public Intoxication: UTPD Dispatch was notified of a medical emergency at this location. UTPD officers located a non-UT subject who was actively purging his stomach and sweating through his clothing. Medical personnel who responded determined that the subject needed to be transported to a local hospital for alcohol poisoning. Occurred on 09/18/16 at 3:15 a.m. TEXAS SWIM CENTER, 1900 San Jacinto Street Graffiti: An unknown person used blue spray paint to put illegible writing on the wall of this location. Estimated cost of removal: $100. Discovered on 09/18/16 at 9:54 a.m. 1900 BLOCK OF SAN JACINTO ST Criminal Trespass / Possession of a Controlled Substance in Penalty Group 2A < 2oz: A UTPD officer saw a subject that she knew to have an active criminal trespass at this location. When she saw the non-UT subject, he appeared to be passing out while attempting to eat. This led the officer to believe that the subject might also be intoxicated. After the officer placed the man under arrest, she discovered a hand-rolled cigarette that contained synthetic cannabinoids. Occurred on 09/18/16 at 4:15 p.m. LOT 109, 1510 East 21st Street Burglary of a Motor Vehicle (x3): A UT student contacted UTPD to report that she saw a vehicle with its window broken out at this location. Our officers responded and located a total of three vehicles that had been broken into. Estimated loss value: $1500. Discovered on 09/19/16 at 7:25 a.m. GUADALUPE GARAGE, 417 West 17th Street Theft: A UT staff member reported that the handlebars were stolen from his bicycle which was secured at a rack at this location. Estimated loss value: $20. Reported on 09/18/16 at 10:18 a.m. The University of Texas Police Department responded to 127 Alarm Reports, 40 Traffic Violations, 34 Suspicious Activity Reports, 3 Welfare Concern, 13 Police “Emergency Help” Callbox Activations, 7 Medical Emergencies, 1 Motor Vehicle Collision, 1 Found Property Report, 5 Assist Other Law Enforcement Agency Requests, 12 Foot Patrols, and 14 Public Assists between 09/15/16 and 09/16/16.
