Report for 10/19/2016

Campus Watch: Below is a summary of campus activity reported to or observed by The University Police Department Patrol Officers between Tuesday, 10/18/16 and Wednesday, 10/19/16. WINSHIP DRAMA BUILDING, 300 East 23rd Street Criminal Trespass / Possession of Substance in Penalty Group 2A < 2oz: A UT staff member reported that they saw a man sleeping on the side of this building. Our officers checked the area and located a non-UT subject lying on a white blanket. Before the officer woke the man up, he noticed that there was a hand rolled cigarillo on the blanket next to the man. Because that officer was familiar with common methods of synthetic cannabinoid usage, he recognized that the item likely contained an illegal substance. Later testing would prove the officer correct. Once the man was awake, our officers identified him as having received a previous written criminal trespass warning for all UT property. The man responded to our officers' questions about that warning with several rude statements about our officer's hygiene and genealogy. Occurred on 10/18/16 at 10:04 p.m. PERRY-CASTANEDA LIBRARY, 101 East 21st Street Graffiti: A patrolling UTPD officer noticed that someone used purple spray paint to communicate that they were present at this location sometime in the recent past. Estimated cost of removal: $200. Discovered on 10/19/16 at 4:29 a.m. The University of Texas Police Department responded to 25 Alarm Reports, 1 Traffic Violation, 4 Suspicious Activity Reports, 3 Assist Other Law Enforcement Agency Requests, 1 Welfare Concern, 4 Foot Patrols, and 5 Public Assists between 10/18/16 and 10/19/16.
