Campus Watch: Below is a summary of campus activity reported to or observed by The University Police Department Patrol Officers between Wednesday, 10/19/16 and Thursday, 10/20/16. 2600 BLOCK OF SPEEDWAY AVE Criminal Trespass / Resisting Arrest: A UT staff member reported a suspicious person near the day care playground at this location. Our officers responded and located a non-UT subject who was not wearing a shirt. After speaking with the man, officers learned that he did not have any legitimate business with the university and issued the man a written criminal trespass warning. After releasing the man, our officers noticed that he chose to remain on UT property. UTPD officers spoke to him again and he stated that he had no intention to leave the property. At that point our officers informed him that he was being placed under arrest for criminal trespass. The man expressed his disagreement with this decision by refusing to be placed into handcuffs. After a brief struggle, our officers were able to restrain the man's arms and place him into a patrol vehicle. No one was injured during the confrontation. Occurred on 10/19/16 at 10:16 a.m. BRAZOS GARAGE, 210 East Martin Luther King Jr Boulevard Duty Upon Striking an Unattended Vehicle: A UT student reported that their vehicle was damaged while it was parked at this location. An unknown person damaged their car and failed to leave their contact and insurance information as required by Texas law. Reported on 10/19/16 at 12:15 p.m. BELO CENTER FOR NEW MEDIA, 300 West Dean Keeton Street Theft: A UT staff member reported the theft of an unattended wallet at this location. Estimated loss value: $20. Reported on 10/19/16 at 2:44 p.m. The University of Texas Police Department responded to 10 Alarm Reports, 11 Traffic Violation, 7 Suspicious Activity Reports, 1 Assist Other Law Enforcement Agency Request, 3 Welfare Concerns, 3 Foot Patrols, 1 Motor Vehicle Collision, and 2 Police “Emergency Help” Callbox Activations between 10/19/16 and 10/20/16.
