Campus Watch: Below is a summary of campus activity reported to or observed by The University Police Department Patrol Officers between Tuesday, 10/25/16 and Wednesday, 10/26/16. BRACKENRIDGE APARTMENTS, 3300 Lake Austin Boulevard Burglary of a Motor Vehicle: A UT student reported that their car had been broken into. A front window was broken out and several items were missing. Estimated loss value: $428. Reported on 10/25/16 at 1:37 p.m. 200 BLOCK OF EAST DEAN KEETON ST Possession of a Dangerous Drug: A UT staff member contacted police because he found a missing wallet. The staff member told officers that he was trying to locate the owner when he found a baggie inside containing a white powder. He stopped handling the wallet and contacted police when he saw this. While our officers were examining the substance a different staff member approached and stated that the wallet belonged to him. Our officers were certain that someone would not approach them and claim an item that contained drugs so they asked the man what was in the baggie. He immediately replied, “That's methamphetamine.” Our officers were certain that someone would not claim ownership of an illegal substance to a peace officer so they asked the man if the methamphetamine belonged to him. The very helpful man explained to officers that it did indeed belong to him. After the officers recovered from their disbelief, they placed the man under arrest. Occurred on 10/26/16 at12:24 a.m. The University of Texas Police Department responded to 17 Alarm Reports, 19 Traffic Violations, 13 Suspicious Activity Reports, 1 Assist Other Law Enforcement Agency Request, 3 Welfare Concerns, 4 Foot Patrols, 3 Public Assists, 1 Medical Emergency, and 1 Motor Vehicle Collision between 10/25/16 and 10/26/16.
