Reported on 10/31/16 at 3:07 p.m. HEALTH LEARNING BUILDING, 1501 Red River Street Possession of Drug Paraphernalia / Other Law Enforcement Agency Warrant: A UT staff member noticed someone soliciting inside the building and contacted UTPD. The man provided several interesting stories which included local hospitals and taxis but all ended the same way, he was in pecuniary distress. Officers located the non-UT subject and found that he had an outstanding warrant from another law enforcement agency. After placing the man under arrest, officers discovered several items of drug paraphernalia on his person. Occurred on 10/31/16 at 3:10 p.m. COMMUNICATIONS BUILDING B, 2504B Whitis Avenue Theft: A UT student reported that her bicycle was stolen from outside this location. Estimated loss value: $151. Reported on 10/31/16 at 3:33 p.m. UT CONSTRUCTION SITE, 1915 Guadalupe Street Criminal Trespass: A UT staff member contacted police when he saw a non-UT subject walk through the fencing at this location, ignoring several large “No Trespassing” signs. Contractors inside the area also noticed the man digging through bins of tools and machinery. When officers arrived, they found the man exiting a portable bathroom on the site. The man claimed that he was simply seeking a place to answer the call of nature, and the facilities located inside a fenced, gated, dangerous construction site with multiple signs to indicate the dangerous nature of the area, the safety equipment required, and the fact that trespassing was not allowed, was the most convenient location. The man was placed under arrest. Occurred on 10/31/16 at 7:00 p.m. 2300 BLOCK OF SAN JACINTO BLVD Failure to Identify / Other Law Enforcement Agency Warrant: UTPD Dispatch received a call about a suspicious person walking in the Waller Creek area near this location. Our officers responded and located a non-UT subject under the nearby bridge. Our officers questioned the man about his troll-like behavior and the man stated that he was just looking for a place to sleep. During the conversation, the man also lied several times about his name and date of birth. Once officers learned his real name, they discovered that the reason he was lying was because another law enforcement agency had issued a felony warrant for his arrest. The officers placed the man under arrest and assured that students could once again cross the bridge without answering riddles. Occurred on 11/01/16 at 12:27 a.m. INTERSECTION OD DEAN KEETON ST AND I-35 FRONTAGE RD Public Intoxication: A UTPD officer noticed a person who appeared to be asleep on the side of the road. When the officer approached, the man sprang up and promptly fell down again. Our officer was understandably concerned about the man's spontaneous and unsuccessful attempt to defy gravity and found that the non-UT subject had several bruises and scrapes that were consistent with similar previous attempts. The officer was able to locate a sober, responsible adult who agreed to assume care, custody, and control of the man until he sobered up. Occurred on 11/01/16 at 12:33 a.m. The University of Texas Police Department responded to 23 Alarm Reports, 3 Traffic Violations, 8 Suspicious Activity Reports, 3 Welfare Concerns, 3 Medical Emergencies, 5 Motor Vehicle Collisions, 1 Assist Other Law Enforcement Agency Request, 5 Foot Patrols, and 1 Public Assist between 10/31/16 and 11/01/16.
