Campus Watch: Below is a summary of campus activity reported to or observed by The University Police Department Patrol Officers between Monday, 11/07/16 and Tuesday, 11/08/16. *** ADMIN MESSAGE: UTPD would like to thank everyone who showed up to our latest Coffee with a Cop event. We appreciate the opportunity you gave us to get to know our community better. We are organizing our next event for the upcoming semester. If you would like to request a similar event in a particular area of campus, or during a particular time, please do so by responding to the Campus Watch. *** JESTER CENTER, 201 East 21st Street Theft: A UT student reported that his bicycle was stolen from the racks outside this location. The bicycle had been secured with a cable lock. Estimated loss value: $101. Reported on 11/07/16 at 12:59 p.m. UNION BUILDING, 2308 Whitis Avenue Theft: A UT student reported that her wallet was stolen when she left it unattended for less than two minutes. Estimated loss value: $92. Reported on 11/07/16 at 4:07 p.m. 100 E BLOCK OF 6TH ST Driving While License Invalid: A UTPD officer noticed a vehicle at this location that did not have its headlights on. When the officer stopped the car, the non-UT driver informed the officer that he did not need to display his headlights, nor did he need to have insurance or a valid driver's license. Our officer disagreed, and once he confirmed that the man's driver's license had been suspended multiple times he expressed that disagreement by placing the man under arrest. Occurred on 11/08/16 at 2:51 a.m. 2200 BLOCK OF GUADALUPE ST Consumption of Alcohol by a Minor: A UTPD officer noticed a man sitting down on a decorative flower box at this location. When the officer stopped to let the man know that the box would likely not support him, the man fell backwards. After the officer verified that the man was unhurt, he discovered that he was a UT student and under the age of 21. The man admitted that his lack of coordination was due to consuming alcoholic beverages. The officer was able to locate a sober adult to take custody of the man until he sobered up. Occurred on 11/08/16 at 1:18 a.m. The University of Texas Police Department responded to 18 Alarm Reports, 6 Traffic Violations, 7 Suspicious Activity Reports, 5 Welfare Concerns, 1 Motor Vehicle Collision, 1 “Police Help” Emergency Callbox Activation, 2 Medical Emergencies, 3 Foot Patrols, and 2 Public Assists between 11/07/16 and 11/08/16.
