Campus Watch: Below is a summary of campus activity reported to or observed by The University Police Department Patrol Officers between Tuesday, 11/08/16 and Wednesday, 11/09/16. *** ADMIN MESSAGE: UTPD would like to thank everyone who showed up to our latest Coffee with a Cop event. We appreciate the opportunity you gave us to get to know our community better. We are organizing our next event for the upcoming semester. If you would like to request a similar event in a particular area of campus, or during a particular time, please do so by responding to the Campus Watch. *** NORTH OFFICE ANNEX, 101 East 27th Street Theft: A UT student reported that his bicycle was stolen from the racks outside this location. The bicycle had been secured with a cable lock. Estimated loss value: $151. Reported on 11/08/16 at 2:06 p.m. 2000 BLOCK OF SPEEDWAY AVE Theft: A UT student reported that his bicycle was stolen. Only the front tire of the bicycle was secured with a U-lock. The front tire and U-lock were recovered. Estimated loss value: $101. Reported on 11/08/16 at 2:34 p.m. MOORE-HILL DORMITORY, 214 East 21st Street Fraud: A UT student reported that she received a phone call from a person who claimed to be with the US Department of Health and Human Services. The mysterious caller claimed that if the student submitted a donation of a $200 gift card, the department would extend her a $9,000 grant. The student submitted the gift card but did not receive a government grant. Occurred on 11/08/16 at 7:21 p.m. *** CRIME PREVENTION TIP: When an offer sounds too good to be true, that generally means it is. Whenever you receive a suspiciously good offer, hang up and verify what the caller is telling you independently. *** GUADALUPE GARAGE, 417 West 17th Street Criminal Trespass: A UTPD officer found a man sleeping in the stairwell of this location. When the officer woke the man up, he recognized him as someone who has received multiple written criminal trespass warnings from all UT property. The officer placed the man under arrest and made certain that he had another copy of his written criminal trespass warning. Occurred on 11/09/16 at 3:30 a.m. The University of Texas Police Department responded to 19 Alarm Reports, 4 Traffic Violations, 5 Suspicious Activity Reports, 2 Welfare Concerns, 2 Motor Vehicle Collisions, 1 Medical Emergency, and 3 Public Assists between 11/08/16 and 11/09/16.
