Discovered on 11/24/16 at 3:16 p.m. DARRELL K ROYAL TX MEMORIAL STADIUM, 2319 San Jacinto Boulevard Public Intoxication / Fictitious License: During a local sporting event, UTPD officers received a complaint of a man who was intoxicated. Our officers located the man and noticed that he had a difficult time remaining upright unassisted. The officers asked the man to sit down while they identified him and tried to find him a safe way home. The man claimed that he did not possess an ID from any state. Our officers were skeptical of this statement and asked the man to take a look in his wallet. The man then showed officers that he had not one, but two IDs from Texas and Connecticut. The officers expressed their sympathy with the man's mathematical difficulty and determined that the Connecticut ID was fake. That license was seized and the officers found a sober adult who was willing to assume care, custody, and control of the sobriety- and mathematically-challenged man. Occurred on 11/25/16 at 2:17 p.m. INTERSECTION OF SAN JACINTO BLVD AND 24TH ST Disorderly Conduct: A Travis County deputy reported that he had broken up a fight at this location. UTPD officers arrived to assist him and investigate the offense. The officers received a very confusing story from two UT students who had been fighting at this location. One of them may or may not have been shaking a Port-A-Potty while the other was inside. Then they might have hit each other over “stupid boy stuff” afterward. One student, who had a bleeding mouth told the officer that he his mouth was bleeding because he went to the dentist the day before. As that day was a national holiday, the officer doubted that this statement was truthful. The other stated he was surprised his classmate, “had that good of a right hook.” Occurred on 11/25/16 at 4:30 p.m. DARRELL K ROYAL TX MEMORIAL STADIUM, 2319 San Jacinto Boulevard Public Intoxication / Dating Violence: Assault: UTPD officers responded to a report of a woman refusing to leave the stadium after being ejected from the game. The officers found the woman and attempted to explain that she was no longer allowed inside the stadium that day. The woman was unimpressed and told officers that because she possessed legal training she would be viewing the game on behalf of people who were underprivileged. It was at this time that the officers were able to tell that the woman was heavily intoxicated. While attempting to explain to the woman that she was required to leave the stadium, officers were also able to locate a man who stated he was her boyfriend. Since the man was sober, officers explained the situation to him and asked if he was willing to assume care, custody, and control of the intoxicated woman. He stated that he was and suggested to his girlfriend that they leave the game. The woman then slapped him across the face with an open hand. Officers placed the woman under arrest. Occurred on 11/25/16 at 5:08 p.m. JESTER WEST DORMITORY, 201 East 21st Street Theft: A UT student reported that his bicycle was stolen from the rack outside the dormitory. The bicycle was secured with a cable lock. Estimated loss value: $210. Reported on 11/25/16 at 9:13 p.m. INTERSECTION OF 15th ST AND LAVACA ST Public Intoxication: A UTPD officer noticed a man standing in the roadway at this location. The officer activated his emergency lights to alert nearby traffic until it was safe to get out of his vehicle and help the man. The officer spoke to the man and could detect a strong smell of alcohol coming from him. The man stated that he did not know where he was going but that he had been drinking New Zealand that night. The officer determined that the man was danger to himself based on his level of intoxication. Occurred on 11/26/16 at 12:31 a.m. GUADALUPE GARAGE, 417 West 17th Street Graffiti: A UTPD officer found an inscription on a wall of this location in grey permanent marker. Estimated cost of removal: $100. Discovered on 11/26/16 at 5:01 a.m. 2600 BLOCK OF LAKE AUSTIN BLVD Driving Under the Influence by a Minor / Evading Arrest or Detention / Possession of Marijuana 2oz or Less / Possession of Drug Paraphernalia / Fictitious License / Consumption of Alcohol by a Minor / Operating a Vehicle with an Expired License: A UTPD officer was in the area looking for a suspicious person wearing a grey jacket when the Austin Police Department contacted UTPD Dispatch regarding a suspicious person call with a similar description. Our officer responded to that area to see if APD was looking for the same person. When the officer arrived at the 7/11 to speak with APD officers, a man wearing a grey jacket walked out of the convenience store. The man's eyes reportedly became very wide and he ran away upon seeing the police vehicle. The UTPD officer (who remained in his vehicle, because it's easier to chase people that way) gave the man several commands to stop using the vehicle's PA system. The man chose not to stop, but instead ran to a nearby parked truck and started to get into the driver's seat. The officer commanded him to stop and show him his hands and the man finally did so. Our officer placed the man under arrest for Evading. Once placed under arrest, the man informed our officer that he would “level with him.” He stated that he consumed eight to ten beers, then drove the truck to a party, and then took his friends to the 7/11. Officers could detect the strong odor or marijuana coming from the truck and subsequently searched it. They discovered one open liter of vodka, one open case of beer, one hand rolled cigarette with marijuana inside, several items used to prepare that hand-rolled cigarette, and a fake driver's license. Occurred on 11/27/16 at 2:30 a.m. SAN JACINTO DORMITORY, 309 East 21st Street Theft: A UT student reported that his bicycle had been stolen from outside this location. Estimated loss value: $350.
