Campus Watch: Below is a summary of campus activity reported to or observed by The University of Texas At Austin Police Department Patrol Officers between Monday 02/13/17 and Tuesday 02/14/17. Gateway Apartments 1618-1650 W. 6th Street Criminal Mischief: A UT staff member reported that an entry gate was damaged. The cost to repair the damage is estimated to be $50.00. Reported on 02/13/17 at 09:31 am School of Social Work 1925 San Jacinto Boulevard Harassment: A UT staff member reported that they were receiving excessive and unwanted text messages. The investigation is ongoing. Reported on 02/14/17 at 02:00 pm. 2300 Block of Guadalupe Street Theft: A bicycle belonging to The University of Texas at Austin was removed from a bicycle rack. Our Police Communications Operators were easily able to track the location of the bicycle and relay that information to officers. Officer quickly located the would-be thief and detained him. While he did not get to keep the bicycle he had attempted to steal, the officers allowed him to wear a shiny set of bracelets on the way to Travis County Jail. Occurred on 02/13/17 at 06:14 pm. Brazos Garage 210 E. Martin Luther King Boulevard Possession of Marijuana (Less than 2oz): A UTPD officer conducting a foot patrol in the Brazos parking garage detected the unmistakable odor of burning marijuana. The officer followed the smell to a stairwell where he discovered three men smoking marijuana. The offenders quickly surrendered their illegal substance to the officer. One of the three men possessed a container commonly used to mask the smell of marijuana (Pro-Tip: it didn't work). The case was administratively cleared. Occurred on 02/14/17 at 12:47 am. The University of Texas at Austin Police Department responded to 21 Alarm Reports, 5 Traffic Violations, 3 Foot Patrols, 9 Suspicious Activity Reports, 1 Medical Emergency and 14 Public Assists between Monday 02/13/17 and Tuesday 02/14/17.
