Report for 03/30/2017

Campus Watch: Below is a summary of campus activity reported to or observed by The University of Texas At Austin Police Department Patrol Officers between Wednesday 03/29/17 and Thursday 03/30/17. 2300 Block of Guadalupe Street Theft: A bicycle owned by UT and easily tracked by our intrepid communications operators was removed from a bicycle rack near a bus stop in the area. The operators noticed that the bicycle was moving at an unusually high rate of speed. Officers in the area determined that the bike had been mounted to a rack on the front of a city bus. Officers stopped and boarded the bus. The bus driver was able to identify the suspect. The crook told officers that he found the bike unattended in the area and took possession of it. To his credit, what he said was not entirely untrue. However, the police call that kind of statement a confession. The bike was seized and the criminal was transported to Travis County Central Booking. Occurred on 03/29/17 at 6:50 am. 1800 Block of Guadalupe Street Possession of Drug Paraphernalia: A UTPD bike patrol Officer observed an individual smoking marijuana in plain sight. The criminals really do make it that easy sometimes. The officer stopped the individual and issued him a citation. There was no recoverable amount of marijuana left. Occurred on 03/29/17 at 1:37 pm. CVS Pharmacy 2222 Guadalupe Street Criminal Trespass Warning: A UTPD officer on foot patrol observed an individual panhandling in front of the CVS drug store. The individual is well known to UTPD officers as an aggressive panhandler. Additionally, the staff at the store had made it clear that they did not tolerate solicitors of any kind on their property. The solicitor was issued a criminal trespass warning and ejected from the store's property. Occurred on 03/29/17 at 3:18 pm. The University of Texas Police Department responded to 15 Alarm Reports, 13 Traffic Violations, 10 Foot Patrols, 2 Suspicious Activity Reports, 3 Medical Emergencies, 1 Assist Other Law Enforcement Agency Call, and 20 Public Assists between Wednesday 03/29/17 and Thursday 03/30/17.
