Report for 04/25/2017

Campus Watch: Below is a summary of campus activity reported to or observed by The University of Texas At Austin Police Department Patrol Officers between Monday 04/24/2017 and Tuesday 04/25/17. 500 Block of East Dean Keeton Driving Without A License: A UTPD officer observed a vehicle driving erratically. The vehicle was travelling at 55 mph in a 30 mph zone and swerved between lanes several times. The officer stopped the vehicle and found that the driver did not have a driver's license. This revelation was hardly a surprise given his driving. The driver received a citation and then became a pedestrian because his car was towed from the scene. Occurred on 04/24/17 at 11:42 pm. 1100 Block of East Manor Driving While Intoxicated: A UTPD officer observed a vehicle jump onto a nearby curb line and drive on the sidewalk for a brief period. The officer recognized that this behavior was not only unusual but potentially dangerous and illegal. The officer stopped the vehicle and spoke with the driver. Everything was going well until the man exhibited great difficulty retrieving his driver's license. Did we mention that the smell of alcohol emanating from the driver was almost overpowering? I didn't but we'll bet you knew it was coming. The driver performed very poorly on the standard tests and was taken into custody. The officer later determined that this was the driver's second arrest for Driving While Intoxicated. Occurred on 04/25/17 at 02:50 am. The University of Texas Police Department responded to 18 Alarm Activations, 2 Assist Other Law Enforcement Agency Calls, 7 Traffic Violations, 7 Foot Patrols, 11 Suspicious Activity Reports, 3 Medical Emergencies, and 20 Public Assists between Monday 04/24/2017 and Tuesday 04/25/17.
