Campus Watch: Below is a summary of campus activity reported to or observed by The University of Texas At Austin Police Department Patrol Officers between Monday 05/01/2017 and Thursday 05/04/17. A Note from the Author: On Monday, the UT Community was shocked by the violence and senseless loss of life that gripped our Campus. We hold all of the victims and their families in our thoughts and prayers. The suspect is in custody and will face justice for his actions. The University of Texas Community will overcome this tragedy together. Look out for each other and be supportive of your fellow Longhorns. If you need help or know someone who does, don't be afraid to reach out. As always, if you see something, say something. If you feel threatened, dial 911. Sanchez Building 1912 Speedway Graffiti: A UT staff member discovered graffiti on a wall on the interior of the building. Reported on 05/01/17 at 3:42 pm. University of Texas Administration Building 1616 Guadalupe Street Theft: A bicycle was stolen from a rack near the building. The estimated loss is $600.00. Reported on 05/01/17 at 10:24 pm. 2300 Block of San Antonio Street Possession of Marijuana/Possession of Drug Paraphernalia: Officers observed a man who appeared to be passed out on the sidewalk. Officers approached the man who instantly admitted to possessing marijuana and a pipe. Officers seized the contraband and destroyed it. No charges were filed. Occurred on 05/02/17 at 12:43 pm. Moojo's 2322 Guadalupe Criminal Trespass Warning: UTPD officers responded to a report of a naked male in the bathroom of the establishment who was said to be bathing in the sink. Officers responded to the scene and found exactly that. The store manager issued the individual a criminal trespass warning. Occurred on 05/02/17 at 5:15 pm. Colorado Apartments 2501 Lake Austin Boulevard Theft: A bicycle was stolen from a rack on near one of the apartment buildings. The value of the bike is estimated to be $700.00. Reported on 05/02/17 at 10:43 pm. Jester Residence Hall 201 E. 21st Street Criminal Trespass Warning: A former employee returned to the hall and was making people feel uncomfortable. Given the tumultuous nature of her termination and her current demeanor, a UT staff member requested that she be issued a criminal trespass warning. Officers then issued the warning and ejected the woman from the campus. Occurred on 05/02/17 at 11:16 pm. 200 Block of E. Dean Keeton Evading Arrest or Detention: A UTPD officer observed a vehicle with a bicycle hanging out of the trunk and upon closer inspection, saw that the license plate appeared to have been tampered with. The officer determined that the vehicle had been reported stolen. The officer activated her lights and sirens when the suspect vehicle accelerated at a high rate of speed. The officer reported that the vehicle made several erratic turns and tried to escape. She was joined by in the pursuit by a DPS trooper. The suspect vehicle reached speeds of 72 miles per hour in a 30 mph zone. In accordance with our policy, the officer terminated the pursuit in accordance with concern for public safety. The investigation is ongoing. Occurred on 05/01/17 at 11:05 pm. Perry-Castañeda Library 101 E. 21st Street Theft: A UT student reported that his bag containing a laptop computer and other items was stolen from inside the library. The bag was unattended at the time of theft. Reported on 05/03/17 at 10:18 am. North End Zone 405 E. 23rd Street Theft: A cell phone was stolen from inside the building. The phone was unattended at the time of theft. Reported on 05/03/17 at 11:07 am. Creekside Residence Hall 2501 San Jacinto Boulevard Theft: A UT student reported that his phone charger was stolen. The student was asleep and the charger was nearby at the time of the theft. Reported on 05/03/17 at 3:12 pm. University of Texas Charter School 2200 E. 6th Street Criminal Trespass Warning: A UT staff member reported that an unknown male was on the perimeter of the property drinking alcohol. Officers responded and located the man. He was issued a criminal trespass warning and ejected from the property. Reported on 05/03/17 at 2:31 pm. The University of Texas Police Department responded to 112 Alarm Activations, 4 Assist Other Law Enforcement Agency Calls, 29 Foot Patrols, 43 Suspicious Activity Reports, 10 Medical Emergencies, and 90 Public Assists between Monday 05/01/2017 and Thursday 05/04/17.
