Campus Watch: Below is a summary of campus activity reported to or observed by The University of Texas At Austin Police Department Patrol Officers between Thursday 05/04/2017 and Tuesday 05/09/17. Health Transformation Building 1601 Trinity Criminal Trespass Warning: A security guard observed a suspicious male walking through the building. The guard contacted UTPD who quickly responded to the scene and located the male. Officers issued the man a criminal trespass warning and ejected him from the campus. Occurred on 05/04/17 at 07:37 am. Brackenridge Apartments 3350 Lake Austin Boulevard Theft: A UT Student reported that a package was stolen from her doorstep. Reported on 05/04/17 at 10:13 am. Moncrief-Nehaus Athletic Center 2015 San Jacinto Theft: A UT student reported that one of his text books was stolen from inside the building. The book was unattended at the time of theft. Reported 05/04/17 at 10:41 am. McDonalds Restaurant 414 W. Martin Luther King Jr. Drive Possession of Marijuana: While on bike patrol, a UTPD officer observed an individual (with extensive drug related involvement with our agency) smoking marijuana in plain view. The officer seized the marijuana and released the offender without charge. Occurred on 05/04/17 at 10:07 am. Perry-Castañeda Library 101 E. 21st Street Theft: A UT student reported that their bicycle was stolen from a rack outside the library. The loss is estimated to be $350.00. Reported on 05/04/17 at 4:36 pm. 800 Block of E. 12th Street Driving While License Invalid/Failure to Maintain Financial Responsibility: A UTPD officer observed a vehicle traveling with expired license plates. The officer stopped the vehicle and determined that the driver's license was invalid and did not have current liability insurance. The driver also had a warrant for his arrest out of Bexar County for Driving While Intoxicated Probation Violation. The driver was taken into custody and transported to the local jail. Occurred on 05/05/17 at 03:27 am. 400 Block of W. 25th Street Public Intoxication: UTPD officers responded to a report of an intoxicated male stumbling in the roadway. Officers checked the area and found exactly what the reporting person described. The suspect was under 21 years of age, highly intoxicated and possessed a fictitious identification. He was transported to a nearby hospital. No charges were filed. Occurred on 05/05/17 at 11:48 pm. 200 Block of E. Martin Luther King Drive Driving While Intoxicated: A UTPD officer observed a vehicle operating without headlamps when required. The officer stopped the vehicle and determined that driver was intoxicated. The driver was taken into custody and transported to Travis County Central Booking. Occurred on 05/06/17 at 01:31 am. 1800 Block of Interstate Highway 35 Frontage Road Driving on Roadway Laned for Traffic/Possession of Marijuana: A patrolling UTPD officer observed a vehicle swerve into a bike lane several times. The officer stopped the vehicle and was able to smell marijuana inside the vehicle. The officer recovered a small amount of marijuana. Occurred on 05/06/17 at 01:54 am. 1500 Block of E. 20th Street Possession of Substance in Penalty Group 1 (Crack Cocaine): A UT officer observed a male staggering down the sidewalk with an open alcoholic container in his hand. The officer interviewed the man and determined that he was in possession of a small amount of crack cocaine. Police Communication Operators learned that the suspect had a current warrant for his arrest. The officer took the offender into custody and transported him to the local jail. Occurred on 05/06/17 at 8:48 pm. Frank Erwin Center 1701 Red River Street Criminal Trespass: Security staff asked a disorderly concert goer to leave the premises. He refused. UTPD officers responded and made the same request. The patron refused. He was then taken into custody and transported to the local jail. Occurred on 05/06/17 at 9:54 pm. 2800 Block of Guadalupe Street Driving While Intoxicated: A UTPD officer observed a vehicle traveling at 40 mph in a 30 mph zone. The officer stopped the vehicle and spoke with the driver. The driver indicated signs of intoxication and after the requisite tests was taken into custody. Occurred on 05/07/17 at 02:59 am. Red and Charlene McCombs Field 2001 Comal Street Theft: A guest came to the University Police Building to retrieve his wallet from the Lost and Found. When he opened the wallet, he observed that cash was missing. The wallet had been lost at the softball stadium the day before and it is believed the theft likely occurred there. Occurred on 05/07/17 at 2:30 pm. 2800 Block of Guadalupe Street Driving While Intoxicated: A UTPD officer observed a vehicle swerving in the roadway. The officer initiated a traffic stop and identified the driver. The officer observed signs of intoxication and asked the driver to complete the standard tests. After performing poorly, the driver was taken into custody. Occurred on 05/08/17 at 12:17 am. 2800 Block of Guadalupe Street Possession of Marijuana/Assist Other Law Enforcement Agency: A UTPD officer a vehicle traveling without headlights when required. The officer stopped the vehicle and identified the driver. The officer determined that the driver had a number of warrants for his arrest. The warrants were drug related. A search of the vehicle yielded a small amount of marijuana. The driver was transported to the local jail. Occurred on 05/08/17 at 12:48 am. 2300 Block of Guadalupe Public Intoxication/Possession of Drug Paraphernalia: UTPD officers were dispatched to a report of a male screaming at people at and hitting objects. Officers located and detained the man that he was under the influence of an unknown substance. He was taken into custody and searched. The search yielded two pipes that contained what the officers believed to be K2 residue. He was transported to the local jail. Occurred on 05/08/17 at 11:59 am. Jester Residence Hall 201 E. 21st Street Consumption of Alcohol by a Minor: A UTPD officer observed an unconscious female being carried by four males. The officer stopped the group and determined that all had been consuming alcohol and were under 21 years old. The officer summoned EMS for the unconscious woman. She was treated and released to her roommate who was sober. Occurred on 05/09/17 at 4:00 am. The University of Texas Police Department responded to 182 Alarm Activations, 22 Assist Other Law Enforcement Agency Calls, 2 Abandoned 911 Calls, 17 Foot Patrols, 36 Suspicious Activity Reports, 6 Medical Emergencies, and 87 Public Assists between Thursday 05/04/2017 and Tuesday 05/09/17.
