Music Recital Hall 2405 Trinity Street Criminal Trespass Warning: UTPD officers were dispatched to a report of a suspicious person near the building. Upon arrival, they discovered a man asleep in the doorway to the building. They woke the man and determined he had no affiliation to UT. Officers issued him a criminal trespass warning and ejected him from the campus. Occurred on 05/11/2017 at 8:09 pm. O'Henry Hall 601 W. Colorado Street Public Intoxication/Criminal Trespass Warning: A UTPD security guard found a man passed out on the steps of the building. The man was in a state of partial undress and his…rear…was exposed for all to see. Officers responded and were able to wake the man who showed symptoms of alcohol intoxication. Officers took him into custody for Public Intoxication and transported him to the local jail. The man was issued a new criminal trespass warning in addition to the two he already had. Occurred on 05/12/17 at 2:14 am. 100 Block of W. 21st Street Possession of Marijuana: A UTPD officer observed a vehicle travel erratically on the roadway. Upon stopping the vehicle, the officer was able to smell the odor of marijuana coming from the vehicle. The officer determined that the driver was not intoxicated but did find marijuana in the car. The driver received a citation and her vehicle was impounded. Occurred on 05/12/17 at 4:00 am. 300 Block of W. 21st Street Criminal Mischief: A UTPD officer noticed that several lighting fixtures were damaged. The cost of repairing the damage is estimated to be $200.00. Occurred on 05/12/17 at 4:33 am. Brazos Garage 210 E. Martin Luther King Boulevard Theft: A UT staff member reported that his bag containing several items was stolen. The bag was unattended at the time of the theft. Reported on 05/12/17 at 12:30 pm. Congregational Church of Austin 408 W. 23rd Street Public Intoxication: A UTPD officer observed a male passed out in front of the church blocking the sidewalk. The person is extremely well known to UTPD and can often be found in front of this particular church and in the area. His encounters with our agency typically involve public intoxication, drug use, aggressive panhandling or some combination of these activities. It's hard to aggressively panhandle while passed out so officers reasoned that this behavior was drug or alcohol related. They would ultimately be proven correct when the suspect told officers that he had been drinking alcoholic beverages and smoking marijuana. The suspect was intoxicated to the point of being a danger to himself or others and as a result was taken into custody and transported to Travis County Central Booking. It should be noted that less than 24 hours later, officers found the suspect in virtually the exact same spot in the middle of a K2 overdose. He was transported to a nearby hospital for treatment. Occurred on 05/13/17 at 1:22 am. Lot 109 1510 E. 21st Street Criminal Mischief: The tires of three separate vehicles were slashed. The investigation is ongoing. Reported on 05/13/17 at 12:59 pm. Almetris Duren Hall 2624 Whitis Avenue Theft: A UT student reported that her vacuum cleaner was stolen. The vacuum was unattended in a common area at the time of theft. Occurred on 05/13/17 at 7:06 pm. Jones Hall 721 E. Dean Keeton Criminal Trespass: A UTPD officer observed an individual attempting to gain entry into a locked building. The officer interviewed the man and determined that he had been issued not one, not two, not even three but four prior criminal trespass warnings for all UT property. More than one of those warnings came after creating a disturbance and one came after threatening a public servant. Needless to say, this was not his first arrest by UTPD officers. He was taken into custody, issued a fresh criminal trespass warning and transported to the local jail. Frank Dobie House 702 E. Dean Keeton Boulevard Evading Arrest or Detention/Possession of Fictitious Driver's License/Public Intoxication/Consuption of Alcohol by A Minor: A UTPD officer observed a man urinating on the wall of the building. The officer approached the suspect and identified himself. The man immediately attempted to stagger away. The officer warned the suspect that if he tried to run, he would earn a trip to jail. The suspect must have felt pretty lucky because he began to run into the nearby creek. More than happy to engage in some cardiovascular exercise, the officer easily overtook the suspect and took him into custody. He was found to be intoxicated, under 21 years of age and in possession of a fake ID. He was transported to Travis County Jail. Occurred on 05/14/17 at 03:16 am. 100 Block of E. Martin Luther King Boulevard Public Intoxication: A UTPD officer observed a man standing in the middle of the roadway. He was being passed by vehicles and was in a potentially very dangerous situation. Officers spoke to the man and determined that he was intoxicated to the point of being a danger to himself or others. He was taken into custody and transported to the local jail. Occurred on 05/14/17 at 4:19 am. 2211 Hidalgo Street Criminal Trespass Warning: A UTPD officer on foot patrol near The University of Texas Charter School observed a man asleep on the property next to it. The property has long been a nuisance and has recently come into the possession of the University. Officers woke the man, determined he had no legitimate business on the property and issued him a criminal trespass warning. Occurred on 05/14/17 at 1:50 pm.
