Campus Watch: Below is a summary of campus criminal activity reported to or observed by The University of Texas At Austin Police Department Patrol Officers between 08/21/17 and 08/28/2017. Dell Seton Medical Center 1500 Red River Street Criminal Trespass: An individual came to the hospital and asked for narcotics without a prescription. The medical staff refused the request at which time the individual became verbally abusive. He was asked to leave by staff several times. The suspect refused repeated requests to leave the premises and was then taken into custody by UTPD officers. He was taken to Travis County Central Booking and charged with criminal trespass. Occurred on 08/26/17 at 09:30 am. University of Texas Administration Building 1616 Guadalupe Street Criminal Trespass: A UTPD officer observed an individual who appeared to be passed out on the property. The officer checked the man's welfare and determined that he was not intoxicated to the point of being a danger to himself. However, the man had been previously been issued a criminal trespass warning. He was taken into custody and transported to the local jail. Occurred on 08/25/17 at 11:20 pm. 2400 Block of Nueces Street Driving While Intoxicated: A UTPD officer observed a moving vehicle with expired license plates. The officer stopped the vehicle and spoke with the driver. The officer instantly recognized signs of intoxication and asked the driver to submit to the standard tests. After performing poorly, the driver was taken into custody and charged with Driving While Intoxicated. A search incidental to arrest yielded drug paraphernalia. Occurred on 08/25/17 at 12:50 am. Texas Coffee Traders 2300 San Jacinto Burglary: An individual broke into the cart and took a cash register without consent of the owner. The cost of replacing the cash register, its contents and repairing the damage is estimated to be approximately $540.00. Reported on 08/23/17 at 07:48. 2600 Block of Pearl Street Driving While Intoxicated: A UTPD officer observed a vehicle traveling without headlamps when required. The officer stopped the vehicle and identified the driver. The driver displayed signs of intoxication and submitted to the standard tests. After performing poorly, the driver was taken into custody and transported to Travis County Central Booking. Occurred on 08/24/17 at 02:52 am. 400 Block of East Martin Luther King Public Intoxication: A UTPD officer was on patrol (and was minding her own business) when a male shouted obscenities at her. The officer stopped and spoke with the man. The officer determined that the man was intoxicated to the point of being a danger to himself or others. He was transported to Travis County Central Booking. Occurred on 08/22/2017 at 12:27 am. Jester Residence Hall 201 E. 21st Street Theft: A UT student reported that his wallet and its contents were stolen from a common area inside the building. The items were unattended at the time of the theft. Occurred on 08/26/17 at 1:15 pm. The University of Texas Police Department responded to 550 calls for service (140 of those were alarms), performed 93 traffic stops, made 9 criminal arrests, wrote 15 citations, conducted 63 foot patrols and investigated 5 welfare concerns between 08/21/17 and 08/28/2017.
