Crime Prevention Tip of the Week: Emergency call boxes There are yellow emergency phones across campus. If you need police assistance, push the button on the phone to immediately alert UTPD. The police will know which phone you are calling from, so they will know where you are. Campus Watch: Below is a summary of campus criminal activity reported to or observed by The University of Texas At Austin Police Department Patrol Officers between Sunday 8/12/18 and Saturday 08/18/18. 8/12/2018 at 5:42 p.m., 900 San Antonio Street Theft, Evading Arrest or Detention: UTPD officers responded to a report of a theft in progress at 2300 Guadalupe Street. Officers observed a male subject riding a bike matching the description at 10th Street and Guadalupe Street. The subject disregarded several orders to stop. The subject was apprehended at 9th Street and San Antonio Street. The bike was confirmed stolen and the subject admitted that the bike had only been in his possession for “about 5 minutes”. The male was placed under arrest for Theft and Evading Arrest or Detention and transported to Travis County Central Booking. 8/15/2018 at 2:01 a.m., 1601 Trinity Street Public Intoxication, Assist Outside Agency: UTPD officers were dispatched to a report of a male subject lying on the sidewalk near the bed of a creek. After arriving and locating the male, it took the responding officers several minutes to wake him. Upon awaking, the subject did not know where he was. The officers noticed that the male was incoherent and confused. During the course of the investigation it was determined the subject had a municipal warrant. Officers determined the male was intoxicated to the point he was a danger to himself and placed him under arrest for public intoxication and for an outstanding arrest warrant. 8/16/2018 at 8:02 p.m., UTA Building, 1616 Guadalupe Street Criminal Trespass Warning: A UTPD officer, on a foot patrol of the area, observed a male subject attempting to conceal himself from view near a retaining wall. The officer approached the male, who admitted he was attempting to urinate on the side of the building after having difficulty finding a public restroom. The officer observed a bottle with a suspicious liquid in the male’s immediate area. The male stated the bottle contained alcohol. The officer conducted a public intoxication investigation, but determined the subject was not intoxicated to the point he was a danger to himself or others. The subject was issued a criminal trespass warning and left the area. The University of Texas Police Department responded to 154 Alarm Activations, 132 Foot Patrols, 97 Traffic Violations, 4 Welfare Concerns, and 29 Suspicious Activity Reports between Sunday 8/12/18 and Saturday 08/18/18.
